DEER STALKING CERTIFICATE 1 (DSC1)

DSC1 is an industry recognised qualification for UK deer stalkers and estate managers. It is a largely a knowledge-based qualification which enables candidates to demonstrate their understanding of  deer management principles and meat hygiene and shows competence in firearm safety and live firing at simulated deer targets.

The DSC1 qualification is seen as a minimum standard for deer stalkers and is likely to be a requirement for those wanting to join a shooting syndicate, lease land for stalking or stalk unaccompanied in the UK.

OUR COURSE LEARNING OUTLINE

Your course will start with 2 months of online training provided by DSC Training. Additional months are available if you would like to start the training earlier, this is £8 per month payable directly to DSC Training when your Line of Sight online training finishes. Once your 2 months runs out, Steve from DSC will drop you a line with the details of how to extend.

You will receive a memory stick or a download link which contains the latest edition of the Training Manual for Deer Stalkers.  A hard copy is available at an additional cost plus shipping. This will contain all the information you need to pass the assessments, including all the questions from the question bank and mock test papers.

A WhatsApp group will be set up to keep all the course informed of any changes and to ask any questions relevant to the course and exchange information.

The assessment day will be in 2 parts, a range activity where you will have to fire 6 rounds from various positions at a simulated deer along with a practical safety assessment.  The live firing will be followed by the classroom assessments where you will sit all the multiple choice papers and visual questions required to gain the qualification of DSC1.  Results will be sent directly to you within 8 weeks of the course assessment day.
